JEWELLERY CARE

Lajjha handcrafted pieces are designed to age beautifully, acquiring vintage depth and character with every wear. Here is how you can keep your treasures radiant for generations.

THE DOs

  • Safe Storage: Keep your jewellery in the breathable cotton pouch provided or an airtight zip pouch to prevent oxidation from ambient humidity.
  • Gentle Cleanse: Gently wipe each piece with a soft dry microfiber or cotton cloth after wearing to remove skin oils and dust.
  • Put on Last: Adorn your jewellery as the finishing touch—after applying perfume, hairsprays, serums, and cosmetics.
  • Wear Frequently: Natural friction and occasional wear keep the raised 92.5 silver, German silver, and brass highlights polished and luminous.

THE DON'Ts

  • Direct Chemical Contact: Avoid direct contact with sanitizers, alcohol-based perfumes, chlorine, and harsh detergents.
  • Water, Rain & Showers: Remove jewellery before showering, swimming in pools, going into the rain or working out to protect enameled threads and oxidised patinas.
  • Abrasive Chemical Dips: Never use liquid silver dip cleaners or rough scrubbing brushes on jewellery.
  • Tangled Storage: Avoid tossing multiple pieces together into an open drawer where chains can tangle and metal can scratch.
The Living Metals Journey

The Timeless Beauty of Patina

When Lajjha began experimenting with oxidized components in Kolkata's Burrabazar, we discovered that standard commercial oxidized pieces could be unpredictable — tarnishing, losing finish, or corroding with humidity. Refusing to accept those limitations, research led us to solid brass and German silver. With simple mindful care, these noble metals offer lasting longevity and acquire a rich, warm heirloom patina that lives and evolves with you.
